Job Purpose
Manage the laboratory to support the smooth and efficient running of the power plant and ensure the quality of fluids and particularly water used in the support of power generation, cooling systems of boilers and auxiliary engines. Manage the daily operation of the reverse osmosis plant.
Main Tasks and Accountabilities
• Pay maximum attention to observing HSE policies and procedures to preserve the integrity and safety of personnel, equipment, and material and plant facilities at all times. Strive to minimize risk to all aspects of this job.
• Supervise the staff assigned to the level determined by senior management.
• Manage the laboratory to support the smooth and efficient running of the power plant including testing water daily to maintain control of the parameters and oversee in the operation of the reverse osmosis plant containing a range of complex processes and control systems.
• Problem solve and drive process improvements utilizing technical and analytical skills
• Improve and enhance laboratory processes where required.
• Track daily parameters to drive the smooth and efficient running of the power plant.
• Prepare solutions of chemicals to be used in the qualitative analyzes that are performed during the operation of the plant, in order to maintain the availability of the required reagents.
• Perform routine checks of the amount of chemicals available, check auxiliary equipment laboratory to verify that all conditions are to have performed the analysis properly
• Keep Operations Management informed of anomalies.

• Monitor and analyse chemical data of the plant, ensuring the reliability of the procedure and results, following up to process optimization.
• Analyse the possible variations and their causes.
• Monitor the flushing and chemical cleaning of vessels and tanks, for both open systems.
• Track the efficiency of the filtration, water softening and water treatment of the plant.
• Trouble shoots on the operation of the reverse osmosis plant.
• Have a working knowledge of the controls of the reverse osmosis plant and the related computer control systems are used to monitor and automatically control the processes.
• Interpret the outputs from programmable logic controllers operator interface terminals human machine interfaces
• Work on coordinating and managing lab related expansion or modification projects
• Provide user training where appropriate.
• Undertake similar or related tasks as directed by senior management.
• Manages the properly chemical disposal and effluent discharge to comply the stands defined company and local authorities.
Working Environment
• Works in the WTP and Laboratory for 80% and 20% of the time on walk rounds checking the smooth and efficient running of the plant by observing and recording gauges.
• Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas, dusty areas and high elevations
• Work in all temperatures and climate conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme
• Work in confined spaces, some requiring the use of respirator protective equipment
• Performance of duties requires working rotating shifts and response to calls 24 hours/day, seven days/week
• Emergency situations will require the use of respirator and climbing of stairs to reach safety shelters
• Established facial hair in the sealing are of a respirator is not permitted
• At management’s discretion, may be assigned to maintain qualifications and skills necessary to serve on the Safety Response Team.

Background Knowledge and Experience
| Education Level | A Degree in Chemical Engineering or water Treatment. |
| Work Experience | At least 5-6 years in water treatment and laboratory analysis for turbine based power plants. Experience in analytical chemistry related to power plants for oils, carbon compounds and water treatment is essential. |
