Title: WTP Operator
Job Purpose
Operate the water treatment plant and laboratory to support efficient running of the power plant and ensure the quality of fluids and particularly water used in the support of power generation, cooling systems of boilers and auxiliary engines. Manage the daily operation of the reverse osmosis plant.
Main Tasks and Accountabilities
- Perform analyzes at laboratory to support efficient running of the power plant including testing water, fuel oil, lube oil to maintain control of the parameters and some adjustment on the process.
- Responsible for conducting laboratory analysis (hands on working on the bench).
- Keep WTP / Laboratory supervisor or deputy informed of anomalies.
- Start up and Shut down of the water treatment plant.
- Checking and controlling the proper working of Biomass system.
- Controlling the chemical parameters and level of evaporation pond.
- Prepare solutions of chemicals to be used in the qualitative analyzes that are performed during the operation of the plant, in order to maintain the availability of the required reagents.
- Fill the chemicals tanks of Water treatment plant and Biomass to ensure suitable level to running the system.
- Dosing chemicals for all systems at Power plant when is required.
- Personally check the work requirements and safety precautions are met for specified work. Provide guidance to people develop safely the works. Stop unsafe works.
- Observe and record readings of indicating and recording instruments. Maintain operational reporting logs and perform other necessary and related clerical work.
- Complete all laboratory reports as applicable and updating results of analyzes on the server.
- Understand and follow the procedures of laboratory analysis methods.
- Assist with the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain a tidy and neat workspace.
- High level of accuracy is required, with special attention to details.
- Collect water or oil samples when is required according to the schedule.
- Broad domain the Log-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and PTW System is in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Supports maintenance and repairs of the plant systems and follow-up their daily activities.
- Coordination with HSE dep. To follow-up environmental matters when is required.
- Undertakes similar or related work as directed by WTP supervisor.
Working Environment
• Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas, dusty areas and high elevations
• Work in all temperatures and climate conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme
• Work with chemicals and dangerous vapours using respirator protective equipment
• Emergency situations will require the use of respirator and climbing of stairs to reach safety shelters
• At management’s discretion, may be assigned to maintain qualifications and skills necessary to serve on the Safety Response Team.

Background Knowledge and Experience
